Fiberglass Grating - Molded and Pultruded FRP Grating
Fiberglass FRP GratingGrating for decks, stairs, and walkways are the most popular uses for FRP. The anti-corrosive, chemical resistant properties of Fiberglass Grating make FRP an excellent choice for building walkways over areas where steel and aluminum would rust. Most fiberglass grating comes in panels 1", 1.5", or 2" thick. The thicker, or deeper, the grating, the stronger the grating.
There are two type of FRP Grating - Molded and Pultruded. Molded FRP grating is easily identified by its checkerboard mesh pattern. Molded Grating typically sells in 3' or 4' wide panels. (3' x10'), (4' x 8') and (4' x 12)' are the most popular panels sizes. Gray, Yellow, and green are the most common colors. Pultruded FRP Grating is made from a series of parallel bearing bars. The bearing bars look like mini I-Beams or T-Beams. They are held together by cross rods spaced 6" apart. One of the advantages of pultruded grating is that the bearing bars can be made into a stronger panel by simply moving the bearing bars closer together.
